When installing Windows 11, Microsoft forces you to connect to the internet and sign in or create a Microsoft account. Unlike previous versions (like Windows 10), there's no default "Skip" or "Offline account" option — but there’s a simple and effective way to bypass this and create a local account instead.
🧠 Why Choose a Local Account Windows 11?
No need for an email or Microsoft account
More privacy and control
Faster and simpler login
Great for test PCs, work machines, or offline setups
🚀 Step-by-Step: Bypass the Microsoft Account Requirement
At the screen asking you to connect to Wi-Fi or sign in to your Microsoft account:👉 Don’t connect to the internet. If already connected, disable Wi-Fi or unplug your Ethernet cable (or power off your router briefly).
Press the keyboard shortcut:
Shift + F10
On some laptops, you may need to use:Shift + Fn + F10
This will open the Command Prompt window.
Type this command and press Enter:
start ms-cxh:localonly
After a few seconds, Windows will redirect you to the local account creation screen 🎉Now you can enter a username and continue setting up Windows 11 without a Microsoft account.
📝 Additional Tips
This method works on both Windows 11 Home and Pro editions (as of 2025).
Microsoft could remove this workaround in future updates — but for now, it works flawlessly.
If needed, you can still add a Microsoft account later via Settings > Accounts.
